No matter how much we try to fight it, it seems nature bests us every time in beauty and in brains. So the trick? Embrace it, and let it work its magic. Sarah Tay took this philosophy and bottled it up in beautiful wooden packaging to create TAY skincare, her line of natural and organic antioxidant skincare she started in 2011. “Skincare always resonated with me because it’s the true foundation. It’s great physically and mentally to be able to feel good and look good. It’s part of your general happiness!”
Sarah’s career in beauty started with a different sort of aesthetic pleasure; when she first moved to New York from the west coast, she started working in the beauty industry as a graphic designer and eventually became an art director at L’oreal. But her quest to find natural, premium skincare that worked for her eventually led her in a different direction. “I started to delve more into premium ingredients and learned that some of the benefits of ingredients are lost within mass production,” she says about the beginning of TAY. In order to maximize the effectiveness of natural ingredients, she dedicated herself to using small batch processes.
Now based in Brooklyn, TAY is growing rapidly, garnering accolades and awards from even the most discerning beauty professionals, but the ethos behind it remains the same. Part of the proceeds from TAY regularly go to the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation to fight global hunger and global warming and to strengthen communities. “Since my formulas use organic, natural ingredients, I think it’s great to give back what we take,” she says, showing the beauty in TAY, inside and out.
