About Valerie Guariglia and Christine Miele

“We need a quote”

Regeneration was founded in 1993 by Valerie Guariglia and Christine Miele.  What began as a passion for collecting mid-century furniture and objects evolved into a thriving business partnership. They displayed their well edited collection in a small East Village store front. It quickly became a retail destination and relaxed social scene for furniture dealers, decorators and design enthusiasts. Val and Chris quickly outgrew their space on East 10th Street and opened their current SOHO location at 38 Renwick Street. During their 18 years of business they have established an impeccable reputation within the design community.

In 2002  reGeneration was invited by ABC Carpet & Home to create an  American Mid-Century modern department. Regeneration at ABC is managed by Marlon Orr, whose extensive knowledge of the period makes him the perfect addition to the reGeneration team.

Today, both of their locations feature the best early examples of Florence Knoll, Jens Risom, Paul McCobb, Edward Wormley, George Nelson, Harvey Probber, and Milo Baughman.

Building on this classic, refined aesthetic, they began presenting the art of Jan Yoors (1922-1977). Yoors was a master tapestry artist, as well as a published photographer and expert draughtsman. Since April of 2010, reGeneration has presented three exhibitions of large-scale tapestries and works on paper at their Renwick Street location.  Their associate Eric Hibit, whose formal training is in visual art, has expertly organized these exhibitions.

ReGeneration launched their new line of original furniture in May, 2011, which is offered at both Renwick Street and ABC Carpet & Home. Delving into their vintage roots, Chris and Val have created a spare, stylish collection which is available  in standard and custom finishes.  They juxtapose bright contemporary colors and exotic wood veneers with classic forms.  The line incorporates warm metals, rich wood grains and woven elements, providing a range of options which can be either bold or subdued.  The collection will also feature artistic collaborations available in limited editions.

Throughout the life of their business, Chris and Val have fully expressed the values they hold most deeply: integrity of materials, expert craftsmanship, elegant design, and the ability of domestic objects to enrich the look as well as function of our lives. Thank you for visiting.
