“I am never more at peace than when I'm in my garden. When I look at the beauty that mother nature provides, I am filled with awe and appreciation.”

Gifted with a green thumb, it was no question that Maryann Finegan would come to establish her own specialty plant operation in the heart of the flower district in Manhattan.  Along with her husband and partner, Jonathan E. Finegan, she founded the oldest to-the-trade plant store in Manhattan, and has catered to private clients such as high-profile interior designers, hotels and magazines.

Starting off in 1981 as a single store, Maryann and her husband expanded their business over the years.  In five short years, the nursery grew to include 20 completely refurbished houses growing a wide array of materials and plants.  It is from this cluster of greenhouses that many of the specialty plants are grown.  The over 20 different specialty orchids are grown on Long Island and are indigenous to Long Island's temperature and lighting. This makes for longer lasting exquisite orchids. With an emphasis on plant “shelf-life”, each of the plants available are carefully cared for in order to ensure that every flower blooms and flaunts their unique charm for the longest time possible.

Inspired not only by the beauty that the flowers embody, but also by each flower’s individual character and personality, Maryann makes sure that every bud, leaf and shrub she offers is nurtured and artistically arranged. After 30 years of working as a professional florist, Maryann has cultivated her talent for not only being acutely aware of each plant’s delicate temperaments, but how each of her plants can interact with one another and their environment.  With a knack for understanding the practicalities and quirks between plant and person, she has avid experience playing matchmaker between the world of flowers and people.
